New Graduate Resume Writing Decoded

When a resume writer tells me they love writing new graduate resumes because they are fast and easy, I cringe inside.

The only thing more complex than a new graduate resume that is done right is a resume for an IT project manager who constantly changes companies and projects.

Unlike experienced working professionals, to truly sell a new graduate, I have to pick up, examine every piece of the puzzle that makes up their story, and present it with authenticity. This unique approach allows me to turn basic new graduate data into extraordinary story telling that gets results.

Here is a list of the analytics that I use to transform a new graduate resume into a resume that gets results:

-Decipher and format paid experiences vs. internships or book learning

-Understanding how to cross the bridge of unrelated experience with integrity and honesty

-Finding relatable key words with no work history to appeal to an ATS (automated Tracking System)

-Play up information that may initially appear to be irrelevant.

-Content strategies formatting: headers, summaries, keyword sections, coursework, awards, and more.

While these new graduate projects are complex and time-consuming, they are incredibly rewarding for me. Nothing feels better than watching a new graduate start their career in their field of training.
